Masters Tops at Milford
After credible performances in Dessie’s Run, City of Derry Masters took pole positions one again and on this occasion it was at the Milford 5km on Friday night. Peter Lilburn had another decisive win in the V60 category reinforcing his position at the top of the hugely competitive Donegal Gran Prix Series with a swift 18mins 49 secs clocking. Peter was following hot on the heels of the talented and modest Christopher Crampsey who clocked a credible 18mins 30 secs after a very fast start. Joe Mc Carthy claimed first place in the V50 category with a time of 19mins 24 secs after a race long tussle with Barry Mackey from Letterkenny AC. MC for the evening was James Gibbons from Milford AC who thanked the Spartans for consistently supporting the Gran Prix events and in particular Peter, whose reputation is clearly growing with every victory. As the series draws to a close, there are six races left to complete and at this stage it is unlikely that overall positions will change significantly and Peter looks set to take well – deserved honours.
Meanwhile at the Acorns 5K Spartan Noel Logan were in competitive action. Logan finished 4th in 16.25 while Hurley managed 17.15. Good runs by both on what was a tough course.
